Getting started with satellite observing
Choose a location, find a pass, and plan where to look.

Choose your observing location
Allow location access or choose your actual location manually. Predictions use this location, not the point beneath the satellite.
Find a pass
Choose satellite categories, a date, and minimum elevation in Passes. Space stations are a useful starting point.
A pass is not a visibility guarantee
A geometric pass places the satellite above your horizon. Predicted visibility also considers sunlight and Earth’s shadow. Clouds, buildings, light pollution, and satellite brightness still matter.
Know where to look
Note the time, direction, and maximum elevation. The website AR tab is a draggable sky view, not a camera-based alignment tool. Arrive early at a location with an open view and stay aware of your surroundings.
